Education

As a father, nothing is more important to me than ensuring that our children receive the quality education that will help them excel in the future. I believe that the education of each and every student is a fundamental right and duty, set forth by our Founding Fathers.

We must focus our attention on empowering local legislators, teachers, and parents, so that they may prepare our students for the future demands on our workforce and economy.  I believe that it is important to have accountability measures for both students and teachers, while providing states with the flexibility to tackle state and local issues that they are more familiar with. We must also find ways to inspire our children to again become world leaders in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Our kids deserve every opportunity to enrich their education. I support school choice in Texas to enable students and parents to have options and make decisions about an education to meet their specific needs. School choice reform would encourage freedom, innovation and competition in the education system, which will improve the system and Texas as a whole. Reform at the state level could include the creation of a statewide private education scholarship program, eliminating the cap on public charter schools, and expanding virtual education, among other initiatives. Enabling students to have access to the best education available regardless of financial or geographical circumstances will create a brighter future for our younger generations. School choice will help our kids get the education they need to develop into informed, responsible American citizens.
