TITLE: Intern

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • provides research for professional staff to assist with legislative process and the responses to constituent mail
  • provides administrative support to the Committee

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;
  • organized, responsible, dependable and willing to learn.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • conducts research necessary to complete assignments/projects by other staff members;
  • conducts research necessary to formulate responses to letters;
  • answers constituent requests by telephone and fields incoming constituent calls and walk-in appointments;
  • obtains documents and legislative materials requested by staff and/or constituents;
  • maintains a working knowledge of issues and business before the Committee, including the Committee's hearing schedule, calendar and legislative agenda;
  • attends hearings, briefings and other events, taking accurate notes and reporting to other staff members as appropriate;
  • assists with front office responsibilities (answers phones, distributes, mail, signs for packages, greets visitors); and
  • performs other duties as assigned.
