Military Academy Nominations

I am honored to hear from young people seeking a nomination to one of the United States Service Academies.  As the mother of a United States Military Academy graduate, the privilege of nominating outstanding candidates to each of the academies is a responsibility I take very seriously.

2017 nominations (class of 2021) are now closed.  I received an impressive 50 nomination applications from candidates representing 26 high schools across the 2nd Congressional District.

The nomination application period for the class of 2022 will open in early May 2017. Please contact my academy coordinator, Jaci Winship at 636-779-5449 or jaci.winship@mail.house.gov to request an application packet.  Candidates must also apply directly to the academy(ies) of their choice so please visit the service academy websites (links above) to learn more about their programs and admission guidelines. Note that a nomination is not necessary for application to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Students are encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT more than once as the academies take the highest subtest scores from different test dates.  To submit ACT/SAT scores directly to my office use the code of 7501 for ACT and 6985 for SAT.

To be considered for my nomination, completed application packets must be submitted by the deadline (TBD).  The 2nd District Academy Nomination Panel will only interview candidates who have completed all aspects of the application process by the deadline.  The panel nominates candidates based on a “whole person” evaluation, as suggested by the military academies.  Factors such as academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills, physical aptitude, character and motivation are taken into consideration and compared with the other district applicants.

Candidates will be informed by mid-January 2018 whether they have received my nomination.  The academies will then extend an offer of appointment to the nominees of their choice.

Additional information is available on the Military Academy Nominations-FAQ page.  Should you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact my academy coordinator, Jaci Winship at 636-779-5449 or jaci.winship@mail.house.gov.

Please join me in congratulating the 17 outstanding young men and women from Missouri’s Second District who accepted service academy appointments for the class of 2020.
