Below you will find information on resources for veterans and servicemembers. The Privacy Act of 1974 requires that Members of Congress and their staff have written authorization before they can obtain information about an individual's case. Therefore, a consent form may be completed before we proceed with your issue. You can download that form here.

Housing

  • Help for homeless veterans - The National Homeless Veteran Call Center has a 24-hour assistance line for veterans with trained staff from the Department of Veterans Affairs at 1-877-4AID VET.
  • Help for veterans hurt by mortgage abuses - The Servicemember Civil Relief Act is a new program to provide relief for veterans and servicemembers who were hurt by mortgage abuses and assist those seeking refinance. If you need legal services, use the Legal Services Locator to find an attorney.
  • Help with home loans for veterans - For more information on the Department of Veterans Affairs home loan assistance programs, click here.

Jobs and Education

  • Help for unemployed veterans - If you are looking for work, there are resources available specifically for veterans.
  • Help for veterans with GI Bill benefits - The VOW to Hire Heroes Act, which Congress recently passed, extended Montgomery GI Bill benefits for up to one year. For more information and to apply for GI Bill benefits, click here.

Health Care

  • Help with veterans' medical benefits - Click here for more information and to apply for health benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Help for veterans' caregivers - The Department of Veterans Affairs has resources for veterans' family caregivers. There is more information online, including a toolbox of resources for caregivers, as well support available over the phone at 1-855-260-3274.
  • Help for wounded veterans - If you are a wounded veteran in need of assistance or support, please call the Wounded Warrior Resource Center at 1-800-342-9647.
  • Help for veterans in crisis - For information and assistance on suicide prevention or crisis management, the Veterans Crisis Line offers around-the-clock counseling and assistance online via live chat or at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
