Congressman Garamendi is proud to represent Lake County. The 3rd Congressional District includes Clear Lake, Clearlake Oaks, Nice, North Lakeport, Lakeport, Lucerne, and Parramore Springs. Lake County was established in 1861 from parts of Napa and Mendocino counties and is home to Clear Lake, the largest freshwater lake in California, which geologists believe to be the oldest lake in North America. Lake County has abundant natural beauty that is host to a wide variety of recreational activities such as hiking, fishing, golfing, biking, and wine tasting. The county is certified by the California's Air Resources Board as having the cleanest air in the state. Lake County has several bottled water companies and a significant amount of agriculture, including pears, walnuts and wine grapes.
