Established in 1850 when California became a state, Colusa is home to a number of nationally protected wildlife refuges and the Mendocino National Forest. Colusa's economy is centered on agriculture and agriculture-related business, with many diverse kinds of crops, including alfalfa, almonds, melons, rice, sunflowers, walnuts, and wine grapes. Colusa County features beautiful countryside with both manmade and natural waterways.
