Meng Applauds Passage of House Resolution That Denounces U.N. Vote on Israel

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and its Subcommittee on the Middle East, today applauded the passage of a House resolution (H. Res.11) that condemns the recent United Nations vote on Israel.

“After the appalling vote at the U.N., it is critical for Congress to reaffirm its support for Israel, and that is exactly what the House did today,” said Meng. “The passage of this measure says loud and clear that the House denounces the U.N. resolution, and continues to stand in solidarity with our dear friend and ally. We must have Israel’s back, and I will continue to oppose future anti-Israel resolutions at the U.N. The common goal of two states living side-by-side in peace and security will only be achieved from direct negotiations between the two parties.”

The resolution, which passed 342 to 80, can be viewed here. Meng was an original cosponsor of the measure.
