Tax Reform

America’s national debt is unsustainable and Washington cannot tax its way to a balanced budget. Tax increases are not the answer to the federal government’s spending problem. Also, the corporate tax rate needs to be competitive in the global economy.

With that said, our tax code is burdensome for millions of Americans; it is overly complex and too long. Since 1913 the tax code has exploded from 400 pages to over 70,000 pages. Congress needs to focus on making the tax code simple and fair.

This will include lowering taxes on all Americans, closing loopholes, and making the tax brackets simple.

Congressman McKinley believes that hard-working Americans, not the government, are the best stewards of their money. Washington has a spending problem that has led to a tax code that is hurting American families, small businesses, and our nation's economy. He will continue to support and fight for legislation that lowers taxes, cuts wasteful government spending and strengthens our economy.
