Internships

internships big

I am pleased to offer a competitive internship program for college students, college graduates, and graduate students with a record of academic excellence and a strong interest in public service.  Our “Kingterns” are provided a unique opportunity to learn first-hand how a Senate office operates while simultaneously being able to work on behalf of the people of Maine.

Internship positions in the Washington, D.C. office are offered during the spring, summer, and fall. Volunteer opportunities in the Maine offices are also available. Preference is given to Maine students.

Interns in Washington, D.C. are fully integrated into our day to day office operations. They are entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities including legislative research, drafting letters, greeting constituents, monitoring the media, giving tours, and providing administrative support. Volunteers in Maine work closely with state staff to develop a thorough knowledge of local issues in the context of federal legislation and constituent needs.
