Marchant Appointed to Influential Ways and Means Subcommittees on Health and Tax

Washington D.C.– U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) released the following statement on being appointed to the Ways and Means Subcommittees on Health and Tax Policy:

“It is an honor to be appointed to these important subcommittees that will shape the future of North Texas and America,” said Marchant. “I consider it a privilege to serve on these influential subcommittees. I look forward to the debate of the full repeal and replacement of Obamacare and the simplification and reform of our outdated Tax Code.”

“These appointments will amplify the voice of the 24th District of Texas. Both these subcommittees will assist the incoming Trump Administration in undoing the harmful policies enacted during President Obama’s tenure. Congress must repeal and replace the president’s healthcare law with patient-focused solutions, strengthen Medicare, and reform our Tax Code to bring overdue relief to Americans. These two subcommittees will be at the forefront of those efforts.”

The House Committee on Ways and Means was first formed in 1789 and is the oldest committee of the United States Congress. The Committee derives the largest share of its jurisdiction through Article I, Section VII of the Constitution, which states, “all bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.” Past Committee members include numerous U.S. Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Supreme Court Justices.
