The historic significance and high visibility of the Museum are attracting an unprecedented number of local, national, and international visitors. Due to this, the Museum has implemented a Timed Pass system to serve as many visitors as possible while maintaining a secure, safe and smooth flow of people into the Museum. Timed Passes for the public and nonprofit organizations are free of charge.

Obtaining Timed Passes

Free Advanced Timed Entry Passes for the Museum may only be obtained through ETIX, either online or by phone. For all other questions about planning your visit to the Museum, please call 1-844-750-3012.

Timed Entry Passes obtained through other services or from individuals not associated with the Museum may not be honored. Each Timed Entry Pass provided through ETIX has a unique code and can only be used once. Please be aware of attempts to make counterfeit passes available through other services.

Advanced Online

Advanced Timed Passes through March 2017 are no longer available online or by phone. We will announce soon when Advanced Timed Passes for April through June 2017 will be available.

Same Day In-person

A limited number of free Timed Passes per visitor can be obtained in person, at the Museum on the same day of your visit. Passes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 9:15 a.m. The start of the line forms on the Constitution Avenue side of the building. Same Day Timed passes are not available online or by phone.

Nonprofit Groups 

School, student, religious and community-based organizations with groups of 10 or more may obtain free Advance Timed Passes. It is recommended groups provide at least one adult chaperone for every five (5) students under the age of 18. Security

For everyone’s safety, all visitors are required to pass through screening at the entrance to the Museum. During the security process, you are greeted by one of our security personnel who conduct a thorough but speedy hand-check of all bags, briefcases, purses, strollers, and containers. All visitors are required to walk through a metal detector. Those visitors unable to go through the metal detector will be hand-screened with an electronic wand by security personnel. Please see a list of items not allowed in the Museum before planning your visit.
