Since taking office, our office has reserved hundreds of congressional tours for constituents of Ohio's 16th District. Let us help plan your next visit. Due to the large number of visitors, please request tickets as early as possible in order to maximize your chances. Tour and tickets are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
When submitting your tour request, please be prepared to include the following information depending on what tour you request:
- Name
- Birth date
- Citizenship
- Social Security Number
Please also be prepared to provide this information for members of your tour party when we respond to your request.
Due to the large number of visitors, please request tickets as early as possible in order to maximize your chances. Tours for the White House can be booked up to 3 months in advance by our office. Tour and tickets are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTE: Availability of White House tours after the Presidential Transition will be determined by the incoming administration. Additionally, as a part of the transition, the last day the Visitors Office will be fully operational is Tuesday, January 10th. This means, starting on January 11th, the Visitors Office email and phone lines will be unavailable until the next administration is ready to resume operations. Congressional Offices will not be able to submit requests, security information, change or create accounts, or edit information until operations resume. We apologize for this inconvenience.

The ceremony will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies distributes tickets directly to Members of Congress for the ceremonies at the U.S. Capitol.
At this time, all of our tickets have been allotted. However, the Inauguration is open to the public, and there is non-ticketed, standing area on the National Mall west of Third Street NW and SW.

Gates open at 6:00 A.M.
There is no street parking on or near the U.S. Capitol Grounds. U.S. Capitol Police will close all streets in the vicinity of the apitol, and ticket holders are strongly encouraged to walk or use public transportation. The U.S. Capitol Building will be closed to the public. Ticketed guests should be prepared for large crowds on the Metro and other forms of public transportation. - Are there any prohibited items at the Inauguration?
- The following are prohibited: aerosols; alcohol; animals (other than service animals); backpacks, roller bags, suitcase; bags exceeding size restrictions (12in x 14in x 5in); balloons; balls; banners, signs, placards; bicycles; chairs (other than ADA); coolers; drones and other unmanned aircraft systems; explosives of any kind (including fireworks); firearms; glass, thermal, and metal containers; kinives, blades, or other sharp objects (any length); laser lights and laser pointers; Leatherman or similar tools; mace and/or pepper spray; noisemakers, such as air horns, whistles, drums, bullhorns, etc.; packages; poles, sticks, and selfie sticks; spray containers; strollers; structures; supports for signs/placards; toy guns; tripods; umbrellas; weapons of any kind; and any other items that may pose a threat to the security of the event as determined by and at the discretion of the security screeners. Return to Top - What if my White House tour is denied?
- The White House Visitors Office processes and selects tour requests on a first-come, first-serve basis. If your tour was denied, we recommend submitting requests further in advance in order to maximize the possibility of receiving the slots you request. Please note that security information is not processed until after the tour is approved-a tour will never be denied because one individual does not pass a U.S. Secret Service background check. - What if I miss my Capitol tour? Can I reschedule?
- If you miss your Capitol tour, please come to our Office. We are located in Room 328 of the Cannon House Office Building. We will be able to set your group up with a different tour time. Return to Top
- I requested 3 months in advance, how come I was not able to get a tour of the White House?
- Due to the high volume of requests received by all 435 members of congress, the White House Visitors Center is not able to accommodate every request. This is why it is important to request as early as possible. Return to Top
- When will I hear back about my White House tour request?
- The White House Visitors Center approves or denies tour requests about two weeks prior to the requested date(s). Return to Top
- How much time should I allow to travel through security in the Capitol?
