Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) will participate in a Facebook Live discussion on the new International Entrepreneur Rule, announced by the Obama Administration in August.

The proposed Rule would allow qualified international entrepreneurs to temporarily reside in the U.S. to start or grow a business.  The public may comment on the rule through Oct. 17.

The Facebook Live discussion is hosted by FWD.us, and it will include entrepreneurs and experts on immigration.  The public is invited to ask questions about the rule through Facebook.  The panel will address the economic impact of international entrepreneurship and obstacles to foreign entrepreneurship.

International entrepreneurship is vast in the U.S.  Immigrant-owned business employ one in 10 American workers, and immigrants have founded roughly 25 percent of small businesses in America.

Prior to serving in Congress, Polis founded several startup and tech companies, including ProFlowers.com and Techstars.  In Congress, he uses his business expertise to serve on the Committee on the Education and the Workforce.  Through the Congressional Caucus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Polis began Startup Day Across America, a nationwide day to raise awareness of entrepreneurial activity and discuss how federal policy can help entrepreneurs thrive.

In addition, Polis has been a leader on fixing our broken immigration system.  In October 2013, he introduced the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would have improved national security, streamlined our country’s guest worker system, and created a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented individuals.  The Senate companion of this landmark bill passed the Senate in June 2013 and was widely heralded as one of the most significant attempts to fix our broken immigration system in decades.
