There are still millions of American families and businesses struggling to regain their economic footing. Congress must pursue innovative strategies to create jobs, expand opportunity, and grow our economy. We must build ladders of opportunity and tear down barriers for all Americans who are willing to work hard and take responsibility so that everyone can achieve the American Dream. A sustainable and successful economic recovery rests on supporting new and small businesses, reforming our bloated tax code, providing every American with a high-quality education, and restoring fiscal discipline to the federal budget. Only by taking these steps can we create jobs and continue as the most dynamic economy in the world. Economic Inequality Growing Jobs and Small Businesses Innovation and Entrepreneurship Jared launched the bipartisan House Caucus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship to promote legislation that will help new and small businesses grow and create jobs to put America back to work. The Caucus is educating Congress on the importance of innovation and the prominent role start-up companies play in job creation. Jared is the co-founder of Startup Day Across America, a day each year in which lawmakers throughout the country visit with local startups and entrepreneurs to learn about the challenges they face and how public policy can address those challenges. Tax Reform The success of businesses and workers depends on fundamentally reforming the tax code—which currently undermines competitiveness and hurts job creation—by limiting deduction and eliminating special interest loopholes so we can reduce tax rates. We need a simple and fair tax code that will ensure predictability for businesses, Federal Deficit Reducing the deficit requires a balanced, bipartisan approach that includes reductions in spending, reforms of entitlements, and new revenues. We also need a constitutional amendment similar to Colorado’s that will restrain Congress from busting the budget. |
