Pregnancy Resource Center of Owasso was the recipient of the First Congressional District Non-Profit in the Spotlight award Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Congressman Jim Bridenstine recognized the center for its constituent recommendations and stories of service that are communicated to the First District congressional office.

“What you’re doing for people that are in sometimes very desperate need of help is good and your commitment to life is something that’s very important to me personally,” said Bridenstine.

The congressman created the award in 2013 in an effort to highlight and raise awareness of local non-profits, their mission and the people leading their efforts in the community.

“What you do for the unborn children of our community and the mothers of those children ... we can’t thank you enough for what you do to protect life,” said Tulsa County Commissioner John Smaligo.

It is the hope of Congressman Bridenstine that by highlighting the work of these organizations, more First District constituents will be alerted to the assistance that is available to them and be better equipped to utilize these valuable services if necessary.

“I am hoping this recognition will give the PRC some exposure to the public and generate some interest and much needed support for life,” said Executive Director Brenda Raleigh.
