Legislative Updates: 114th Congress
Rep Deutch Co-Introduces Healthy Families Act
Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) has signed on as an original cosponsor of H.R. 932, the Healthy Families Act.
This legislation would require certain types of businesses to allow their workers to earn at least one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked. The bill includes employers with 15 or more employees working each working day for 20 or more weeks a year. Additionally, the act sets a maximum for accrued paid sick time. Paid sick time can be used by the employee for medical needs, to care for family members, and to take actions pertaining to domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. The Healthy Families Act would give millions of American workers sufficient sick leave time in order to care for themselves and their families. To read more about H.R. 932, click here. |
