Immigration Reform

Instead of building walls, we must build bridges. Passing comprehensive immigration reform will grow the Texas economy—it will mean more small business startups and more graduating students. I stand with our DREAMers, many of whom know America as their only home. The House of Representatives has wrongly denied a vote on the bipartisan immigration reform bill to fix our broken system, which was approved over three years ago by the Senate. Tearing families apart by deporting millions will not work. Instead, the better way is to require paying a fine and any back taxes, passing a criminal background check, and creating a path to citizenship for those who play by the rules. America must remain a beacon of hope for refugees fleeing violence and oppression while safeguarding American families.
