Congresswoman Linda Sanchez

Representing the 38th District of CA

Report IRS Phone Scams

It is tax season and that means phone scammers are out to take advantage of hardworking men and women.

Remember - the IRS will never, ever, ask for your personal information or demand you pay taxes over the phone. For more information → 1.usa.gov/1PC7MLI.

Anyone targeted by this or other similar scams is asked to report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at (800) 366-4484 or use their “IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting” web page.

Individuals may also file a complaint using the FTC Complaint Assistant by choosing “Imposter Scams” and including the words “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes.

Also, if you have an older family member, or know someone who speaks English as a second language, I implore you to let them know about this scam and make sure they haven't already been targeted.

If you have any questions, please contact my office at (562) 860-5050 or send me an e-mail.
