Congresswoman Linda Sanchez

Representing the 38th District of CA

Energy and Environment

We need long term solutions to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Dependence on foreign sources of energy is an economic, environmental, and national security problem. America simply does not have enough oil resources to produce enough domestic oil to meet all of our energy needs. That is why I support measures that would move us towards domestic alternative energy sources.

I was a proud co-sponsor of the Clean Energy Act, which dramatically increased funding for renewable energy programs, required an increase in the production of renewable fuels from 4 billion gallons to 36 billion gallons by 2022, and increased fuel economy standards. The President signed this bill into law. I am also an original co-sponsor of the Responsible Renewable Energy Tax Credit Act. This legislation would promote the use of cleaner and renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power.

These long-term strategies are necessary not only to combat climate change and protect our national security, but also to ensure that we don’t fall victim to massive gasoline price spikes every summer.
