There are thousands of caregivers stuck in the VA's Family Caregiver Program backlog. I'm glad the House passed my bill, the Support Our Military Caregivers Act, to reduce this backlog and better support family members caring for seriously wounded veterans. I urge the Senate to take up and pass this critical piece of legislation.

Good news for North Country first responders: upgrading broadband service for emergency call centers will aid emergency responders and help keep North Country families safe. I am working in Congress to increase access to rural broadband infrastructure - a vital part of our North Country economy
Last year I shared the story of Warren Schermerhorn, member of "The First Special Service Force" -- AKA "The Devil's Brigade" -- who’s unit was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for their heroism during World War II. I was proud my office was able to help Mr. Schermerhorn obtain his medal before he sadly passed away. I am pleased with Governor Cuomo’s announcement yesterday. This is an issue that I have been working on with our North Country dairy farmers. New York’s dairy producers and manufacturers have already lost out on export opportunities since Ontario put this new policy in place this spring. If the agreement is finalized this fall, I am greatly concerned that dairy sales to Canada will further erode at a time when our dairy farmers are facing some of the lowest milk prices in recent years. Trade with Canada is very important to both New York and Canada; it is essential that we ensure that Canada is reminded of this fact as it contemplates moving forward with additional dairy policies that will harm New York’s dairy sector.
This morning State Trooper Timothy Pratt will be laid to rest at a ceremony in South Glens Falls. Our community continues to mourn the loss of this local hero -- please keep your continued thoughts and prayers with his family and friends.
Stopped by Nemer Ford in Queensbury today to meet with employees, tour the dealership and discuss their legislative priorities. It was also great being able to sit down with the Warren County EDC to talk about bringing jobs to the North Country.

Norsk Titanium is a welcome addition to the North Country manufacturing community and will bring high skilled manufacturing jobs to the region.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Trooper Timothy Pratt who was tragically killed in the line of duty today. Trooper Pratt served dutifully with the New York State Police for 29 years and his loss will be grieved by the entire law enforcement and North Country community.

Excellent write up in the Military Times about my bill, the Lift the Relocation Burden from Military Spouses Act which would help military spouses transfer their professional licenses from state to state when they are forced to move.
When our businesses team up with universities to prepare students to compete in highly technical jobs immediately after graduation, students win. Pleased to see this cooperation between Norsk and Clarkson University!
