Bordallo Receives Navy Distinguished Public Service Award

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today issued the following statement on receiving the Department of the Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award. The Distinguished Public Service Award is the highest civilian honor bestowed by the Secretary of the Navy. The award was presented by RADM Craig Faller, Chief of Legislative Affairs, on behalf of Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus.

“The Navy and Marine Corps have long histories on Guam, and they have been important partners in our community. I have been proud to support our sailors and Marines during my time in Congress, and I thank them for their incredible service to our nation. I am grateful to the Navy and Secretary Mabus for this award. I look forward to working with the Navy and all our services to address their critical readiness issues during the 115th Congress.”

For exceptional service to the Department of the Nav as a member of Congress ane the House Armed Services Committee. Congresswoman Bordallo’s dedicated service to our Sailors and Marines ensured they were provided the resources necessary to support and defend the Nation’s interests around the globe. Her strong leadership as ranking member of the Subcommittee on Readiness and member of the Subcommittee on Seapower guaranteed the highest levels of sustainability for our combat forces and ensured the Navy-Marine Corps team was the most capable force in history
