Youth Advisory Committee

The Program

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) will provide high school students with a unique opportunity to acquire leadership skills in a professional environment. The program will focus on helping students learn about the industries that are crucial to our local economy with an education-based experience designed to inspire our future leaders.

Composed of six (6) monthly informative sessions, the program exposes students to the major industries within the 35th Congressional District. Students will learn about transportation challenges, trade, education, law enforcement, health care, government, and the legislative process.

 

Who can apply?

Interested sophomore or junior high school students residing in the 35th Congressional District may apply. (Bloomington, Chino, Ontario, Montclair, Pomona, and southern portions of Fontana and Rialto)

Submit a completed application form, a copy of school transcripts (unofficial acceptable), and a personal statement of 500 words double spaced by January 13, 2017. Students may submit their completed application by email, mail, or may personally deliver it to Congresswoman Norma Torres’s District Office:
