Hurricane Season
Hurricane season begins June 1, so it is imperative for everyone to prepare for what is expected to be an active storm year.
As your Representative, I regularly meet with local emergency managers to ensure our communities are ready to respond to a hurricane or other weather-related disaster. However, preparedness must also begin at home.
Disasters can strike at any time, often with little warning. Therefore, it is important for you and your family to have a plan in place, which includes a supply kit filled with potentially life-saving items, like flashlights, radios and batteries. It is also important to follow local weather forecasts and heed any emergency warnings.
Below, you can find links to both federal and local websites that provide useful information to help protect your home, family and pets before, during and after a storm. Ensuring your family’s safety is key, and taking these small steps now can make a huge difference when a disaster strikes.
