How Pervasive is Misconduct at TSA: Examining Findings from a Joint Subcommittee Investigation

This joint hearing will examine the findings of a joint majority subcommittee investigation, including the extent to which misconduct occurs by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees, how effectively TSA headquarters and airport management address misconduct issues, and opportunities to improve the integrity of TSA’s workforce.

Majority Staff of the House Homeland Security Committee released a new report entitled, “Misconduct at TSA Threatens the Security of the Flying Public.” This report is the result of a 6-month long joint investigation conducted by Chairman Scott Perry’s (R-PA) Subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency and Chairman John Katko’s (R-NY) Subcommittee on Transportation Security. In this report, the Committee makes 17 common-sense recommendations for TSA to implement to get a better handle on employee misconduct.
