The renovation of the Capitol Dome finished today just in time for the Presidential Inauguration in January. In fact, you can see that construction on the inaugural platform is well underway.

Mr. Duel Calvert had to leave high school during his junior year to go and serve our country in World War 2. Today, he finally received his diploma from Cold Springs High School. Congratulations and thank you for your service to our country.

I think it is very appropriate that Election Day in the United States is always within days of Veterans Day. There has been much sacrifice and bravery by countless generations of young Americans to secure your right to go vote. I encourage you to get out today and exercise that right.

I enjoyed getting to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Sunday for Samuel Kelly of Double Springs. Only 4% of Boy Scouts make it to Eagle Scout, so this is quite an honor.

My staff and I are closely monitoring events surrounding the Colonial Pipeline explosion in Shelby County. First, my prayers are with those directly involved and their families. Secondly, we are staying in close contact with state officials and stand ready to help on the Federal level in anyway we can. While this accident happened outside of my district, all of North Alabama could feel its impact.

A real Halloween Horror Story is Obamacare. From its failed roll out three years ago, to increasing costs and fewer choices, it's a bad movie that just keeps making sequel after sequel. That's why I have voted more than 30 times to repeal this horror story.

I enjoyed recording an interview today with Beecher Hyde of WBSA Radio in Boaz. It will air Wednesday morning. We talked about the election and issues facing our country.

The Hyde Amendment is 40 years old today. The amendment prohibits tax dollars from being used to pay for abortions. 2/3rds of all Americans agree that tax dollars should not be used to perform abortions.

I was humbled to be honored last night at the annual Dining Away Duchenne event in Washington. Duchenne is one of the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases known as Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne presents itself in childhood, usually between the ages of 3-5. Life expectancy used to be only into the teen years. But thanks to events like these, life expectancy is now into the 30s and beyond.

Ellie Blackwelder of Guntersville High School won this year's 4th Congressional District Art Compeition back in May. Her winning piece titled "Stray," is now the centerpiece of the Alabama delegation's winning artwork hanging inside the U.S. Capitol Complex in Washington.

It was an honor to be presented the Guardian of Seniors' Rights award from the 60 Plus Association.

It's hard to believe, but this weekend we will mark the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on our country. After those attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the crash in Pennsylvania, we all vowed we would never forget. And so on this anniversary, I encourage you to remember those lives lost and to remember that the War on Terrorism continues.
