National Security & Hill Air Force Base

My number one priority in the U.S. Congress is supporting our military and defending and promoting Hill Air Force Base and the other valuable military installations in Utah’s First District – not just because they provide Utah jobs, but because they are critical to our national defense. The productivity and hard work of the men and women at Hill have made the base a key element of America’s military might. I am grateful to have a seat on the important House Armed Services Committee, and was proud to help defend all our installations during the recent Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Round. Utah fared well, thanks mostly to the skilled and dedicated personnel we have at these facilities.

The House passed recently the National Defense Authorization bill. Our committee worked for weeks on this legislation that provides substantial funding for personnel, readiness, bases, and weapons systems for all branches of the military. It is a step in the right direction for giving our fighting men and women the resources they need to continue to be the most-skilled and best-prepared military force in the world.
