Congressional Art Competition

Congressional Art Contest

2012 Art Competition Information:

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives.  The Artistic Discovery Contest showcases artistic talent from around the nation, including Utah’s 1st Congressional District.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 as an opportunity for young constituents to have their artistic talents showcased in the nation’s capitol. In the intervening years, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students. However, those applying for the competition must enter in their congressional districts.  The over-all winner of the competition from Utah’s 1st Congressional District will have their art displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol alongside artwork from other states.

Contest winners are provided with complimentary airfare to fly to Washington, D.C. to see their art displayed during an unveiling ceremony held in the summer. NOTE: lodging is not included.

If you would like to enter this year’s competition please have your art teacher or other school representative contact the Ogden congressional office at 801-625-0107.

Students interested in submitting artwork for consideration in the 1st Congressional District are encouraged to focus on themes of patriotism or the State of Utah.
