Designed to work in partnership with college and university programs nationwide, our interns are given the opportunity to work either full or part-time, and the hours can be catered to class schedules. On average, our full-time interns work Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, leaving plenty of time for interns to experience all that D.C. has to offer.

No matter what your dream job may be, our Washington, D.C. based internship program is all about developing on-the-job skills that will transfer to any profession. A usual day in the office will include answering phones, running errands, researching legislation for Rep. Loudermilk and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, and answering constituent letters on various policy issues. However, our office will cater the program to fit your needs! If you have a special interest, we will work to help you gain insight into that policy area and strive to make your time with us memorable. You will not only learn the ins and outs of Capitol Hill, but you will walk away with a better understanding of the legislative process, the inner-workings of a congressional office, and even gain some insight into a new way of thinking about your everyday life.

The political scene on Capitol Hill is not only unique; it is filled with endless opportunities. We work with our interns to provide them with the tools they need to get the most out of their internship while providing experiences that will act as a springboard into numerous employment fields. The GA11 Congressional Internship Experience:

“I applied to Congressman Loudermilk’s office to enhance my understanding of the legislative process, policy, and politics while getting a better feel for the realm of DC politics. My nearly nine week internship on the Hill has more than fulfilled my expectations. Not only have I gained a better political perspective, but I became invested in all aspects of life on Capitol Hill. On my first day, the staff welcomed me by saying that I would be more than “just an intern” in Congressman Loudermilk’s office—they were right. From interacting with constituents, to the knowledge gained from sitting in on briefings and hearings, honing my writing skills, and networking with other offices –the invaluable skills and knowledge I have gained through this internship will be applicable throughout the rest of my life. " - Caroline Farr, Summer Semester Intern.

"The best way of describing this internship is to say that this is basically like summer camp for students. Instead of arts and crafts, we wrote letters to constituents. Instead of hiking, we gave tours to families of the Capitol. We made friends with other interns, and learned more about ourselves and this line of work than if we had just stayed at home. It has, without a doubt, been the best summer of my life." - Margaret Hardin, Summer Semester Intern.

"The internship in Congressman Loudermilk’s office has far exceeded any expectations I had of working in a congressional office. Being an intern in Washington over the summer was an absolutely unforgettable experience, and working with Congressman Loudermilk and his amazing staff made it even better." - Brad Mannion, Summer Semester Intern.

"Everyone in Congressman Loudermilk’s office was extremely helpful and always encouraged a high-energy atmosphere. I feel extremely lucky and appreciative to have gotten so many opportunities to become involved in the legislative process. The experience as an intern on Capitol Hill is whatever you make it to be, and the entire office of Rep. Loudermilk went above and beyond to make certain we were engaged in Congress and continuously learning." - Keely Christensen, Summer Semester Intern.

“I applied to be an intern in Congressman Loudermilk’s District office with the intent of gaining experience in the political arena and gauging my interest in politics for the future. Whether or not I decide to pursue a career in politics, this internship will serve as a stepping stone for my future. Being an intern in the Main District office requires you to take on a wide variety of roles. On any given day, you may answer phones, film videos, help generate content ideas for social media, attend events all across the district, or visit with local businesses and constituents. It is a unique and gratifying experience that will help you grow your network and challenge you intellectually.” – Matthew McKagen, Summer District Intern.
