Gun violence claims over 30,000 lives per year, including nearly 20,000 firearm-related suicides. Yet lawmakers have not passed any responsible, common-sense gun safety laws.

I believe we must do away with high capacity magazines and strengthen our anemic background check procedures at the point of sale, especially at gun shows, to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and the dangerously mentally ill. I am also committed to equipping our law enforcement agencies with the necessary personnel and investigative tools to prevent the spread of illegal firearms.
