Jobs and the Economy

As a small business owner, I understand the unique challenges facing the American worker and America’s job creators. There are millions of Americans who remain unemployed or underemployed. While Washington is immune to this plight of the American people, I am not.

I am committed to seeing that the American people have greater opportunity to get a good job and earn a larger paycheck. We do this by creating a healthy economy. Eliminating inefficient and ineffective regulations is key to freeing America’s job creators to do what they do best – create jobs and put Americans to work.

I am advancing pro-jobs policies, including lower taxes for hard-working families and small businesses. We must rein in out of control agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that are threatening our nation’s energy and chemical industries which are based right at home in South East Texas.

As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I am working to implement policies that enhance our highway, rail and port infrastructure. These are essential to building a stronger economy and making sure that our products can get to markets in Texas, the United States and across the globe.

As a member of the House Science Committee, I am committed to seeing that NASA has a bold, robust and focused human space flight mission. Today, NASA is pulled in too many different directions and is doing too many things that take its focus off human space flight and space exploration. I am working to refocus NASA. This will create jobs, inspire future generations of American scientists and give the United States a competitive economic edge.
