As a lifelong Texan living in rural South East Texas, I understand the importance of agriculture to our great state. Agriculture is a $100 billion industry in Texas, and is vital to America’s economy, the health and well-being of our citizens and our national security.

In Congress, I am working to advance policies and solutions to ensure that farmers and ranchers thrive in the Lone Star State. Texas farmers, ranchers and timber growers know what is best for Texas agriculture, and I am fighting to eliminate burdensome and unnecessary regulations that impact farming and ranching. In my view there are too many unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats in Washington from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the Corps of Engineers who want to regulate everything from farm dust and spilled milk to a tractor rut in a field. This is too intrusive on the part of the federal government, and it is destroying the American family farm.

From the rice fields in Chambers County to the timber lands in Tyler, Jasper and Newton counties, my constituents in the agriculture community can rest assured that I am working with like-minded Members of Congress every day to enact policies that have the best interest of the American farmer and rancher in mind.
