Jan 10, 2017 Issues: Health Care

The incoming Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans have announced plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act without any concrete plans to ensure that millions of Americans nationwide do not lose their coverage and prevent other turmoil in our health care system.

In Michigan, the uninsured rate has been cut in half because of the Affordable Care Act including an expansion of the Medicaid program, Healthy Michigan. But Republicans are introducing legislation that would repeal the ACA, which would eliminate financial assistance for people needing help with health coverage, jeopardize the protections in the ACA, like making sure insurance companies can’t deny coverage and providing preventive services free of cost, and hurt our local hospitals who will have to once again shoulder the costs of paying for the uninsured through emergency and other uncompensated care.

I know the Affordable Care Act has helped so many of you and your families, and I want to hear your stories. You can share what the ACA and Michigan Medicaid expansion has meant to you here: http://bit.ly/2iAs3qU.
