Pearce Votes to Support Israel and Reject United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement following the passage of H. Res. 11, Objecting to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 as an Obstacle to Israeli-Palestinian Peace.

“I am proud to have voted in favor of today’s House Resolution admonishing the United Nations for its anti-Israel actions. Not to be lost in this vote today, is the fact that over the last eight years the Obama Administration has destabilized our relationship with Israel. The recent decision by the President to not veto the UN’s anti-Israel resolution was crafted, planned, and executed with the goal of undermining and embarrassing Israel on the world stage. This marked a staggering change in U.S. policy at the United Nations, where both Democrat and Republican Administrations of the past have swiftly vetoed one-sided, anti-Israel resolutions,” Pearce stated.

“Israel is unlike most allies we retain, as they are unwavering in their support of our nation and pride themselves on the close relationship they have built with the United States,” Pearce continued. “It is deplorable that the Obama Administration put personal vendettas before the survival of our strongest ally, threatening their security in an already tumultuous region. In the coming weeks, I am eager to continue working to reinforce our relationship with Israel and ensure they do not doubt our support.”
