Agriculture

I fought to join the House Agriculture Committee because farming is vital to the Hudson Valley’s economy and our way of life. By providing healthy food to our communities, state, and nation, our farmers create thousands of jobs and bring millions of dollars to our region.

I serve on the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management and the Subcommittee on Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology and Foreign Agriculture.  These subcommittees are focused on issues that matter to the Hudson Valley’s economy, like fruits and vegetables, crop insurance, and biotechnology.
Farmers in the Hudson Valley work hard every day, and I will work just as hard to fight for them.  I will fight for policies that support our nation’s farmers and ensure that Americans have access to the world’s safest food and agriculture products.
In recent years the Hudson Valley has been rocked by natural disasters. Our farmers have been especially hard hit. That’s why I will continue to advocate for critical agricultural disaster relief and flood mitigation programs and why I have introduced legislation to improve crop insurance programs to make sure Washington is working for the Hudson Valley.

For more information concerning my work and views on agriculture issues, please contact me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.
