Art Competition

Thank you to all of the students who entered the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. I'm already looking forward to next year's submissions and the incredible creativity, talent and unique perspectives of Hoosier students. 

Congratulations Melany Reyes of Pike High School!

This year's Congressional Art Competition winner is Melany Reyes, a junior at Pike High School. 'Bright Faces of Indiana,' a photograph taken by Melany, was chosen as the over-all winner from the Fifth District by a panel of judges who praised Melany’s use of light as well as the hopeful and contemplative nature of the work. ‘Bright Faces of Indiana’ will be displayed in the United States Capitol for the next year, along with artwork from other contest winners from around the country.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent nationwide, as well as in our congressional district. The Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.
