About Our District
District Biography
The land constituting the 49th Congressional District of California was once sparsely populated but has rapidly grown as new arrivals from across California and the United States settled inland during the 1980s and 90s. Congressman Darrell Issa and his wife Kathy moved their business to Vista in 1985 from Cleveland, Ohio.
The 49th District of California includes the the following communities: Carlsbad, Encinitas, Vista, Oceanside, Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego County and San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, and Ladera Ranch in Orange County.
