WASHINGTON – Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) issued the following statement today in response to Secretary Ashton Carter’s announcement that the Pentagon would suspend collections from California National Guard Members who received improper reenlistment bonuses:
WASHINGTON - Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) today voted for S.337, the Freedom of Information (FOIA) Improvement Act of 2016. The bill was passed by the House with overwhelming support and previously passed the Senate earlier this year by unanimous consent.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) announced today that he has joined as a co-sponsor of HR 4814, the No Budget No Pay Act. The bill would prohibit members of the House or Senate from receiving a paycheck if their respective chamber fails to pass a budget by April 15.
Cook said, “This is common sense. If you don’t get your job done, you shouldn’t get paid. Congress has an obligation to the American people to pass a budget and to do it on-time. It’s that simple. ”

WASHINGTON – Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) voted today for H. Res 639, which would allow the Speaker of the House of Representatives to file an amicus brief on behalf of the House in the court case Texas v. U.S. An amicus brief is a document that is filed in a court by someone who is not directly related to the case under consideration. The U.S. House of Representatives rarely files amicus briefs on court cases.
WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) voted to rein in the growing problem of executive overreach and restore a constitutional separation of powers. HR 427, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act, better known as the REINS Act, passed the House of Representatives today.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) will hold a community “meet and greet” to showcase the artwork of area high school students who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition.
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated nationwide.
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) voted for HR 373, the Good Samaritan Search and Recovery Act. This bipartisan bill will prevent bureaucratic roadblocks that prevent trained and experienced search and recovery groups from volunteering their time and resources to help locate missing individuals on federal lands.
