Ros-Lehtinen Applauds the Passage of the INSPIRE Women Act to Advance the Engagement of Women in STEM fields

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-27) made the following statement after the House of Representatives unanimously passed the Inspiring the Next Space Pioneers, Innovators, Researchers, and Explorers (INSPIRE) Women Act. This bill, co-sponsored by Ros-Lehtinen, will provide essential support for multiple initiatives that work to motivate and prepare students to succeed in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and aerospace fields.

Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“I am very pleased that the INSPIRE Women Act has passed in the House with such overwhelming support. For our economy to thrive in an information and technology driven world, we must ensure that we have a skilled workforce with the tools to succeed. The outreach and mentorship programs supported in this legislation will help revitalize the U.S. space program and American businesses by preparing and empowering the next generation to take on and succeed in STEM focused careers. However, although the passage of this bill is a great achievement, it must be the first of many steps. I look forward to working with Rep. Comstock and my colleagues in Congress in support of more legislation that empowers women to become more active players in the advancement of our nation and our economy.”
