Job Creation and Economic Opportunity

Since the beginning of the 2008 economic crisis, millions of American jobs have been lost. Those workers who were unfortunate enough to have lost their jobs are searching longer than ever to find a new one. Unemployment remains stubbornly high, in part, because the actions of the federal government have made employers reluctant to hire new workers.

Small businesses are the backbone of our Nation's economy, employing tens of millions of workers and creating most of the new private sector jobs that are so important for economic growth, especially after a recession. In fact, America’s small businesses create two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. Helping small businesses be successful is crucial to creating new jobs more quickly and helping our economy finally achieve recovery.

The regulatory costs for small businesses in the United States are simply too high. Small businesses are being bogged down by burdensome rules and regulations from Washington, D.C. that prevent job creation and hinder economic growth. We must clear away the bureaucratic red tape that prevents businesses from growing, expanding, and hiring new employees.
