Internships

Washington, D.C.

In my Washington, D.C. office, internships run throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters for undergraduate and graduate students. Although our internships are unpaid, students will gain invaluable experience by working with our staff and helping our constituents. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when Congress is in session, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when not in session.

Intern responsibilities vary, but will include answering phones, managing the incoming mail, assisting with media clips, attending and reporting on legislative hearings and briefings, and researching.  If the intern is interested in communications, writing and social media responsibilities may also be assigned. Our office works hard to ensure that students gain more experience and knowledge in the fields in which they are interested.

Fort Worth, Texas

Interns in my Fort Worth office will be asked to perform various tasks including answering phones, help the staffers in the office with special projects, and manage the incoming mail. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work projects or work on district-based projects of importance. Internship hours in this office are flexible with the applicant’s schedule.
