Veterans History Project

Congressman Stewart is an Air Force veteran and values the stories and sacrifices of fellow veterans. The Veterans History Project through the Library of Congress American Folklife Center is an excellent way to preserve the legacy of those who have faithfully served our country. The Project collects first-hand accounts of U.S. Veterans from the following wars:

  • World War I (1914-1920)
  • World War II (1939-1946)
  • Korean War (1950-1955)
  • Vietnam War (1961-1975)
  • Persian Gulf War (1990-1995)
  • Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts (2001-present)

Follow these three steps to write and archive your story in the Library of Congress:

  1. Learn more and visit the homepage of the Veterans History Project on the Library of Congress’ website here.
  2. Register online here.
  3. After you’ve registered, print out the Veterans History Project Field Kit from home! The kit gives information about the “ins and outs” of the project and what you’ll need to get started. Click here.
