Immigration

Comprehensive Immigration Reform

For centuries, millions have flocked to our shores in search of freedom and a better life, bringing their hopes, dreams, and aspirations along with them. Each generation of immigrants has made America more American. Our immigration system in its current state is broken and it’s the responsibility of Congress to find a solution.

We must secure our borders and enact comprehensive immigration reform that provides legal avenues for immigrants to enter our country and seek out their own American Dream.

By enacting comprehensive immigrations reform, we’ll strengthen our national security and increase our competitiveness in the global economy by ensuring the best and brightest in the world can come to our country legally, earn their citizenship, and contribute to our economy.

Our country was founded on an idea of freedom that has lit the world for nearly 250 years; an idea that millions of men and women have fought and died to protect. We must always remember and honor this sacrifice and, as a nation, stand together against tyranny and for freedom and inclusion. We always have been, and always will be, a nation that says “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

DREAM Act

As a former teacher, I recognize the importance of promoting students who apply themselves to their studies and work towards going on to college. As a citizen, I recognize the moral imperative not to hold children accountable for the decisions of their parents.

For these reasons I support the DREAM Act in Congress. In this country if a young person excels in school our serves in our nation's military, I believe they should be given an opportunity to stay in the only home they've ever known.
