Wolf management represented in House Interior Bill

The House of Representatives recently passed its $32 billion Department of Interior and Environmental Protection Agency spending bill by a 231-196 vote. The measure included three amendments to manage wolf populations in the United States. Amendment No. 78 is sponsored by Reps. Steve Pearce (New Mexico) and Paul Gosar (Arizona). The amendment removes federal protections for the Mexican wolf under the Endangered Species Act and prevents the expansion of its habitat outside of its historic range.

Bipartisan bill could increase renewable energy on public land

State and federal officials praised a bipartisan bill that would encourage renewable energy development on public lands by streamlining the permitting process and letting local governments share in revenues from the projects. The bill by Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Prescott — which already has 67 co-sponsors, including every member of Arizona’s delegation — would give counties revenue to help cover these costs.

Gosar Defeats Grijalva, House Keeps Provision Blocking Arizona Land Grab

On Wednesday the House Defeated an amendment by Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva that would have removed a provision sponsored by Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar included in the Department of the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Act which prohibits funds from being used to make a presidential declaration of a national monument under the Antiquities Act where there is significant local opposition.
