Congressman Butterfield met with Mayor Mack Hodges and City Manager Brian Alligood at the Washington City Hall to discuss economic expansion opportunities. They also discussed innovative flood control measures and development of the city's waterfront.

Congressman Butterfield hosted the annual Grants Workshop which offered small business owners and non-profit organizations the opportunity to learn about funding opportunities, the grant application process, and capacity-building methods once grant funds are received.

Inborden Elementary School Congressman Butterfield joined Inborden's Parent Teacher Association and Together Transforming Lives, of Halifax, North Carolina, to award high achieving students with new laptops. The laptops were donated by Centurylink, a local telecommunications provider.

Alongside Dr. Sharon Elliot-Bynum, he participated in the "Check It, Change It" blood pressure monitoring program, which is a partnership between Duke University and CAARE, Inc.
