REP. THOMPSON STATEMENT IN ADVANCE OF THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR

Dec 6, 2016
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) released the following statement today in advance of the 75th anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor.

“Seventy five years ago today more than 2,400 brave Americans lost their lives in the devastating attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. Today, as we commemorate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the ‘day that will live in infamy,’ let us remember all those who lost their lives and the families they left behind. Let us remember the more than 1,100 servicemen who were wounded in the attack, and all those who rushed to their aide. And let us never forget the incredible heroism shown by all on that terrible day. Our country owes a great deal of gratitude to our Greatest Generation. They faced one of the darkest days in our history with courage, strength and patriotism. They freed Europe and Asia from the grips of fascism and ended Hitler’s despotic reign of terror. And they returned home to build our great country. Our deepest and most heartfelt thanks goes out to them and their families, today and every day.”
