Liberals and conservatives alike want to remember an infamous Northern California internment camp that held Japanese-Americans in punitive conditions during World War II.
The Capitol Hill question now, a perennially pointed one when it comes to Western public land issues, is whether lawmakers can resolve their differences about details.
Washington, DC – Rep. LaMalfa today released the following statement regarding his vote against the $1.1 trillion spending package to fund the government through September 2016.

Washington, DC – Rep. LaMalfa today supported a measure that extends a wide array of tax credits for American families, students, farms and employers, creating more certainty and decreasing costs for taxpayers. Congressional Republicans and Democrats are working together to reach a rapid resolution of a labor dispute that’s clogging West Coast ports.
With crop exports from regions like the Pacific Northwest and California’s Central Valley particularly at risk, more than a dozen lawmakers united Thursday in support of port peace. If nothing else, the rare show of bipartisanship underscored the enduring importance of maritime trade.
Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today attended a bipartisan press conference urging a swift resolution to the slowdown occurring at the West Coast Port due to ongoing negotiations between the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and the International Longshoreman Warehouse Union (ILWU).
