It is my pleasure to host a yearly Congressional Art Competition.  Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent across the nation and right here in New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District.

The Congressional Art Competition was established in 1982, in order to encourage Members of Congress to recognize the artistic accomplishments of young community members in their districts. Since then, hundreds of thousands of students have participated in competitions all across the country. I am a strong supporter of the arts and arts education programs, and I have participated in the Congressional Art Competition annually since taking office in 2013.

The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students in the 2nd District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol and the exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nationwide.

Each piece can be no larger than 28” x 28” x 4” (28 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 4 inches deep), including the frame.  Artwork selected as the winning piece will be required to be framed and must still adhere to the size guidelines.  All entries must be original in concept, design and execution.

If a student would like to enter this year’s Congressional Art Competition, please have a school representative (art teacher) contact Dawn Pollinger of my staff at (603) 226-1002 or via e-mail at dawn.pollinger@mail.house.gov

The Artistic Discovery Contest is a great opportunity to recognize our artistically talented youth.  We encourage your participation in this wonderful program.
