U.S. Sens. Chuck E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries on Tuesday announced $16.2 million in federal funding to the New York City School Construction Authority for permanent work of P.S. 90 Edna Cohen School of Coney Island, as a result of Superstorm Sandy.

Flooding from storm surge caused severe damage to the public school. Federal funding is being obligated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Public Assistance program.

Congressmen Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) and Steve Chabot (R-OH) introduced H.R. 5108, legislation that would establish in law, the Law School Clinic Certification Program of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This bill would expand the current program by removing its “pilot” status, making it available to all accredited law schools in the country that meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
