I applaud FBI Director James Comey’s courage in reopening the investigation into Secretary Hillary Clinton’s use of private email servers. Doing what is right is not always popular in the court of public opinion. We are a nation of laws and no one individual is above the law.

I am confident, with the information that has recently come to light - new emails that are ‘pertinent’ to the previously suspended investigation – Director Comey weighed the gravity of the timing of hi...s announcement against what is best for the country.

Politics has no place in our justice system. The country and the American people deserve transparency and accountability in their government and with their government officials. Regardless of the outcome of this investigation, there will be criticism at every turn. I trust he will do what is right to protect the rule of law as directed by our Constitution.

It was an honor to attend the Florida Farm Bureau's 75th annual meeting. The FFB remains true to their mission of "increasing the net income of farmers and ranchers, and to improve the quality of rural life.” Our farmers and ranchers are the backbone of this country and we owe them a great deal of gratitude. Thank you for all you do!

The FBI’s reopening of the investigation into Secretary Clinton's private email servers is troubling, to say the least. Secretary Clinton has operated as if the law does not apply to her and has been careless with national security information. She should not be allowed any classified information of any kind (Intel briefings, emails, etc.) until this FBI investigation is complete. Others have lost their jobs and rank for mishandling classified information; she shouldn't be treated any different. No one is above the law.

Let's GO Gators- beat those Dawgs! #GatorNation

I was honored to join Sen. Bill Nelson, FL Rep. Elizabeth Porter, and local representatives for the Ichetucknee Springshed Water Quality Improvement Project Completion Ceremony.

This important project will reduce nitrogen loading to the Ichetucknee River by up to 85 percent which is approximately a 20 percent reduction of the total nitrogen loading to the Ichetucknee River. It will also recharge the upper Floridian aquifer by up to 1.58 million gallons per day.

Enjoyed spending time with Amy Wells and her hardworking Link Staffing Team in Orang Park. You are doing a great job!

I would like to sincerely thank Congressman Ted YOHO for stopping by and spending his valuable time with our Link Staffing Team.
Recognizing the success and hard work they put in to keep Florida families working.

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter is doing the right thing in suspending the Pentagon’s efforts to collect re-enlistment bonuses from members of the California National Guard. Those brave men and women, like all our Veterans, have sacrificed to defend the liberties and freedoms we all enjoy.

To offer our men and women in uniform a bonus to re-enlist and then ask them to pay it back is just plain wrong. We owe our Veterans everything and I will continue to fight for them in Florida and across the country.

Had a great time speaking to the kids of W.E. Cherry Elementary School in Orange Park. The teachers and administrators are doing great work here. As a Title 1 school with 100% poverty rate, they have earned an 'A' rating this year. This makes 9 'A' ratings in the last 11 years. Great job!

This school is a model for high poverty schools and should be an example across the country of how to create successful students.

I have submitted to Department of Agriculture Secretary Vilsack, a Member-led, bipartisan letter, supported by 180 of my colleagues in the House of Representatives, urging the agency to finalize the proposed horse soring rule [Docket No. APHIS-2011-0009] before the conclusion of the current Administration. In addition, the letter requests that the agency maintains the PAST Act provisions in the final rule, which have been included in the proposal.

This draft rule has the po...tential to completely eradicate the barbaric practice known as soring. This heinous practice has been allowed to continue for too long and it is past time to put it to an end. However, it is vitally important that this rule does not exceed its jurisdiction, which is why we also requested that the USDA rule only be applied to those breeds which have been historically linked to the practice of soring.

It has become a vital mission of mine to end this cruel practice while I am in Congress. At the same time, I want to ensure that good actors, which comprises of the vast majority of those in the horse industry, can continue to show these remarkable animals in a fair and humane manner.

  • Feel free to paraphrase. I do not think healthcare is a right but I ...do not oppose universal healthcare IF: It was paid for by taxing highly processed/refined foods, anything with added sugar/sweeteners, anything fried - like chips. Also no longer allow those on government assistance programs for food to purchase more than a small, limited quantity of those products as well. If a 2liter of soda costs 10.00, we would have a healthier America in no time and healthcare costs for those that don't care for themselves would drop drastically. Make unhealthy choices, pay more. It is as simple as that. Don't legislate an amount one can buy, financially limit how much they can afford. You are doing a great job up there! Progress always involves risk. You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first. Matt Cain Newberry, Florida 352.727.9000 See More
