CLEBURNE, TEXAS – Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin) today announced that on Wednesday he will congratulate James Clay, an Army veteran, on being the recipient of a new roof to be donated by a local roofing company.
Clay, a native of Johnson County, was stationed in Japan and spent six years in the Army Reserves while segregation existed in the United States.

WASHINGTON, DC –Congressman Roger Williams (R – Austin), a member of the Financial Services Committee’s Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing, today released the following statement after the Obama Administration on Tuesday disclosed that it had transferred $1.3 billion in cash to Iran shortly after it delivered a $400 million cash payment the same day Iran released four American prisoners.

Williams toured the Ajinomoto Windsor plant on the downtown square – one of the largest private employers in the city.

Everyone agrees that the appreciation now being shown to military veterans of the Vietnam War era is long overdue — and well-deserved.
More than 100 Erath County Vietnam veterans gathered Monday afternoon for a town hall meeting at Paradigm in Stephenville to be honored with a commemorative U.S. Vietnam War lapel pin and an official certificate of appreciation.
The pins and certificates are to recognize the service and sacrifices made by all U.S. military members who served in active duty during the Vietnam era.
COPPERAS COVE — During a tour of Central Texas this week that includes stops in Killeen, Gatesville and Copperas Cove, U.S. Rep, Roger Williams, R-Austin, said the American economy has not yet recovered.
“Today, there are 47 million people on food stamps, 15 percent of people in poverty, another 15 percent underemployed and 52 percent of college graduates that will be un- or underemployed for the next four years,” Williams told about 20 people Thursday during a Rotary Club meeting. “That’s not an economy.”
COPPERAS COVE, TX (KXXV) - A Texas Congressman wants to make sure Fort Hood soldiers transitioning out of the military have good jobs waiting for them as civilians.
Congressman Roger Williams talked about many issues at the Copperas Cove Rotary Club Thursday, but made sure to speak on one government agency he thinks would be a good fit for former soldiers.
Williams believes that the economy has to be stable in order to accommodate these soldiers.
